About the Margarita Half Marathon & 5K

A Running Celebration with a Side of Margaritas

The Margarita Half Marathon and 5K is a running event that takes place in the historic New Hampshire towns of Portsmouth, Greenland, and Newington. The race was founded in 2015 by a group of friends who wanted to create a fun and festive running event that celebrated the best of New Hampshire: it’s beautiful scenery, its vibrant community, and its love of margaritas.

The half-marathon course is a challenging but scenic route that winds through the rolling hills of Newington and Greenland. The 5K course is a flat and fast course that is perfect for runners of all levels. Both courses start and finish at the Lowe’s parking lot in Greenland, ending with a margarita-fueled after party at Mercedes Benz of Portsmouth.

In addition to margaritas, the after-party features live music, food trucks, and a silent auction. The proceeds from the race benefit the Seacoast Family Promise, a non-profit organization that provides shelter and support to homeless families in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire.
